Dancers move around the floor in a consistent, counter-clockwise line, prioritizing shared awareness and physical connection with their partner. This flow is essential for maintaining a harmonious floor, especially in busy local social settings.

Musical Structure

Music is presented in blocks known as tandas—typically three to four songs of the same style, such as golden-age tangos, rhythmic milonga tracks, or expressive vals. Between these sets, you will hear a cortina, a short musical transition that signals the end of a round and offers a natural moment to rotate partners.

Event Etiquette
